-I much prefer to get my news from Channel One (a student news channel) than from the regular "adult" news sources. It is usually straightforward and explained (in a simplified way) plus there's usually some interesting human-interest story or a positive story so I don't feel so depressed when it's over.
-I never know what to say to an author when I meet them. "Hey I like your book" seems kinda dumb. Obviously, or I wouldn't be there. I really enjoy listening to them speak at the signing events, I just always feel awkward when it's time for the brief conversation.
-I used to keep a box of papers I collected and never graded under my desk. I felt bad about throwing them away, but I also didn't want to return them and have kids know I never graded them. In the box, they were there if I needed them, but the kids would forget about them. Turns out this year I am using Google Classroom the same way. The 2 assignments kids have completed on there I have completely ignored and thankfully, no one has asked.
-I have no idea how to answer people with pregnancy questions. "Are you nesting a lot?" (Maybe? I have the nursery ready if that's what you mean) "Are you just over it?" (Um, if you mean am I ready to not be so large then sure. If you mean are you ready to have a baby then probably not?) "Are you sure you're ready for it?" (If I'm not its a little late now...) "I hope you're stocking up on sleep" (You do realize sleep doesn't work like a bank right? Also I am up every 2 hours to pee and can't really get comfortable so...) There are others, but these were the most common today...
-I haven't hardly read anything this year. In fact, if I was a student in my class, I would be pretty embarrassed. Thankfully, I got a new book last week and I'm already 500 pages in to it. Plus its over 700 pages which means it "counts" as 3 books. Actually, I just realized I have read some other books this year, but I wasn't counting the breastfeeding ones. (And I don't think I will.)

Channel One! I loved it in high school and think if my school had it that would be my primary news source, too! The pregnancy questions are always so awkward! I just had my first in September and it was always weird. People would also say, "You look great!". In theory that's very nice of them, but then my cynical self thinks, "Would they tell me if I didn't?" And my third trimester was the worst. With a newborn your hours of sleep doesn't improve, but being able to fall asleep is much easier :)
